Lilleshall International Football Academy (LIFA) is one of the world’s most prestigious and well recognised Football Academies. Beautifully situated in rural Shropshire, Lilleshall’s world-class facilities and accommodation have seen 52 of its graduates achieve England caps.

Lilleshall’s mix of sporting talent, international standard staff, globally enviable pitches, elite living packages and extensive sport-science support allows us to offer a unique, comprehensive academy package that has created the benchmark for UK sport.

The Heritage

Lilleshall is celebrated and famed for its reputation in providing the very best environment and facilities for football training and development. Lilleshall has worked with The Football Association (FA) for over 25 years, offering a base for National Squads, including England’s world cup winning team in 1966. Until recently, Lilleshall was the base for The FA’s coach education programme helping to produce some of the world’s leading coaches. The venue continues to support leading football clubs from around the world who use Lilleshall as a base for training camps and in preparation for big games.

LIFA is proud to build on this heritage through offering it’s international football academy. The centre is most famous for The FA’s School Of Excellence scheme, a full time initiative which helped produce world famous players such as Michael Owen, Andy Cole, Joe Cole, Jermain Defoe and Sol Campbell. Now under The Lilleshall International Football Academy, many more players will have the opportunity to develop their skills in this majestic setting, and benefit from the expert tuition offered to maybe, one day go on and play professional football.

Players at the LIFA will experience truly outstanding facilities at all times. There are fantastic grass pitches prepared to the highest standard, Olympic standard synthetic pitches, a vast array of indoor facilities, outstanding gym facilities and equipment combined with the very best sporting medical provision.

The LIFA Programme

This is an elite football education programme aimed at 16 – 21 year olds who have a desire to develop their skills working with highly qualified coaches in an outstanding sporting environment. Starting in August of each year, the programme will run for 36 weeks with the players residing or attending on a non-residential basis. The programme will provide daily football training sessions delivered by UEFA Qualified coaches, including a vast range of support services including Sport Science support and Sport Medicine support.

The Lilleshall International Football Academy will not only provide the best possible grounding for a potential career in the game as a player, but it will also provide the player with the necessary skills and qualifications for career opportunities within the game both in the UK and internationally. Lilleshall Education programme is supported by one of the UK’s leading further education colleges, who are accredited with the British Council.
