Club Website recently announced a new partnership with the Homeless World Cup, the international football tournament that uses football to energise homeless people to change their lives.
The 2009 Homeless World Cup takes place in Milan on 6-13 September and Club Website are thrilled to be a key partner of the tournament on the road to Milan and beyond.
Football is the true global game and is an incredibly powerful tool for making a positive change when harnessed in the right way.
For this reason it seemed the obvious choice for Club Website to team up with the Homeless World Cup as a key partner and their chosen charity.
The Homeless World Cup is an annual event unites teams of homeless people for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent their country in a world class international tournament.
The event, founded by social entrepreneur Mel Young, began in Graz, Austria in 2003 with 18 nations coming together and has grown year-on-year since.
The 2008 event in Melbourne, Australia saw 56 nations unite for the biggest Homeless World Cup ever, including the first Women’s Cup and a legacy of 30 street soccer programs across Australia.
With some 40,000 homeless players currently engaged in grassroots football programs in over 70 nations around the world, the Homeless World Cup has already made a massive difference to the lives of those involved.
Research shows that over 70 percent of players at the Homeless World Cup experience a significant life change. They come off drugs and alcohol, move into homes, jobs, education, training and repair relationships. Some even go on to become coaches and players with semi-pro teams and social entrepreneurs.
Club Website will help raise awareness of the Homeless World Cup within the UK football community on the road to Milan and beyond.
