Unibond side offer free entry to armed forces

AFC Fylde have teamed up with the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment based at Weeton Army Camp on the Fylde Coast to offer all armed forces personnel free entry to home league matches on production of a valid warrant card.

Martin Booker Business Development Manager said:  “It’s a great link up for the club and after our discussions with the Welfare Office we believe it will be of great benefit to them and their families. Our Club President is a great supporter of the Army Benevolent Fund and we hope this latest show of support for our soldiers based on the Fylde will give them an added boost.

"We are also looking into other developments with them in the months to come. As a club we are always looking to build strong community links in the local area ”

Colour Sergeant Eddie Nicholls, of 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards), said: “This is a very generous offer to the armed forces from AFC Fylde and, in particular, serves to further cement the close bond which 2 YORK’S soldiers and their families have made with the Fylde area since our arrival at Weeton two years ago.

"Most of our battalion’s soldiers are currently serving in Afghanistan and they will be heartened to learn of this support being shown to them back home – and will be looking forward to watching a game at the earliest opportunity on returning to the UK in Spring next year! But this offer from AFC Fylde is extended to all serving personnel in the armed forces – so it will be welcomed by more than just this battalion."

"All soldiers hold the Army Benevolent Fund, the soldier’s charity, in high regard and we look forward to working with AFC Fylde as it takes forward plans to raise money for our official charity.”

The club is continuing to build community links following a number of successful initiatives with local schools in and around the Fylde coast.
