Warrington Town Football Club have teamed up with a new Principal Sponsor for the forthcoming season – the club’s diamond jubilee.
Town have teamed up with Warrington Collegiate, the town’s largest education provider, who have signed up as the club’s main shirt sponsor for the next 12 months, with the aim of making it a long term partnership. With matching “corporate colours” the two organisations are also linked by England World Cup Winner Roger Hunt, who was spotted playing on Cantilever Park by Liverpool in the club’s Stockton Heath days and is also an honorary fellow at the Collegiate. The sponsorship deal will involve the Collegiate’s academy football team becoming a feeder team for Town’s reserves – with the potential of college students stepping up to the first team, if they achieve the required standard.
The Collegiate are already linked with Warrington Wolves’ Rugby League Academy and see the link with the town’s premier football team as the next step in ensuring the best possible opportunities for their students.
Collegiate Principal Paul Hafren said: “We are well aware of Warrington Town’s ambitions to move the club forward and up the league tables and we hope the Collegiate can be part of that success.
“A town the size of Warrington should have a football team playing at a higher level and this is a great opportunity for our students to gain invaluable experience and hopefully help move the club forward. “As well as providing improved sporting opportunities for our students we will also be able to help players develop vocational skills for life after football.
“It is a a win, win opportunity for both the football club and ourselves.”
Warrington Town manager Joey Dunn, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for Warrington Town and it is fantastic to get the backing of one of the largest organisations in town behind us.
“Hopefully we can uncover some untapped local talent – and you never know a Roger Hunt of the future!”
