Chelsea appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport
FIFA applied a ban on Chelsea’s transfer activity until 2011 after the club was found to be at fault when player Gael Kakuta breached his contract in 2007 with Lens. The player is banned from professional matches for four months. Kakuta and Chelsea must compensate £710,000 to Lens as part of the penalty.
The London outfit also owes a further ‘training compensation’ of £118,000 to Lens.
Should the ban be postponed, the club will be able to participate in transfer activities this coming January. No date has been set by the Court to hear the appeal as of yet.
