The Scottish FA and adidas today confirmed the sportswear giant as the new official kit supplier to the Scotland National team, supplying all match apparel and producing all replica kit, training and leisure wear.
The deal will run from January 2010 to June 2014 and the new kit will be worn for the first time at Scotland’s friendly against the Czech Republic in March.
Speaking about the deal, Scottish FA Chief Executive Gordon Smith said: “This is a great deal for the Scottish FA and a huge show of faith in Scotland by one of largest and most prestigious sports brands in the world. Being associated with adidas will lift the profile of our national teams and will ensure that our supporters around the world have access to the very best merchandise and replica kits.
“The money that we generate through this new partnership will allow us to continue our huge investment programme in grass roots and youth football. Every commercial deal we sign and every partnership we enter into has one sole aim – to help us secure the future of our game.
“We are delighted to welcome adidas into the Scottish football family. I have no doubt that deal will excite the fans and will go on to be a long and lasting success for everyone.”
Adidas Area North Managing Director, Gil Steyaert, added: "Both adidas and the Scottish FA have a long and proud heritage in football and we are delighted that we are able to announce our partnership today.
"Like all Scotland supporters, adidas has a passion for the game and the National team will wear the very best in kit technology.
"Adidas is also committed to encouraging youngsters to participate in sport and we are especially pleased that we can help the Scottish FA continue to develop it’s grassroots activities. We look forward to a long and successful relationship."
