Sports drink Soccerade has signed World and European freestyle football Champion John Farnworth to spearhead the search for a UK Dream Team.
And before the ink has even dried on the deal, Farnworth is jetting off to meet the likes of Soccerade’s own Cristiano Ronaldo in Milan at the Homeless World Cup, 6 - 13th September, in celebration of the brand’s sole beverage sponsorship of the event.
Farnworth will be exchanging skills with some of the world’s greatest footballers as part of the event at the historic Arena Civica, Sempione Park in the heart of Milan. Over 500 players from 48 nations will be taking part.
The search for the Soccerade Dream Team sees Farnworth selecting an elite team of grass roots players from every corner of the UK. He will be visiting 11 regions looking for the most creative ball controllers, skills merchants and freestylers.
Each winner takes away a school minibus for their school team, Soccerade sponsorship for their team and the spoils of a winning performance plus the opportunity to play other Soccerade Dream Team’s on an international stage.
And all this even before the brand has officially launched in the UK where Soccerade has continued to pursue its mission of supporting grass roots football, partnering with hundreds of clubs and tournaments.
John Farnworth said: “Exchanging tricks with the likes of Ronaldo in Milan at the Homeless World Cup will be great. This is about grit, spirit and glory in the game to benefit the less fortunate.
“For me that includes expressive football, which is an element of the game Soccerade is looking to bring to the fore with the search for a grass roots UK Dream Team.”
