Pompey secure Kappa kit deal

Troubled Portsmouth Football Club have secured a new kit deal from Kappa. The Italian Sportswear manufacturer replace former sponsors New Zealand based Canterbury Sports. Portsmouth showed off a special one off jersey as they faced Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley.

Kappa chief executive Simon Bamber said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Pompey. Their long history and tradition – and above all their incredible support – makes us proud to be part of the club’s future.”

Lucius Peart, Portsmouth’s head of operations, added: “We are delighted to be working with such an iconic sporting brand and we look forward to building a strong relationship with Kappa. We can’t wait to see the players take to the field at Wembley on Sunday wearing their new Kappa kit. It looks really strong and we have really tried to integrate all the historical aspects of the club’s kit by being very careful and particular with the choice of colours.”

Although no financial details have been revealed at this stage, the five year deal is surely a very welcome boost to Portsmouth's finances. Last month they became the first Premiership club to enter administration and their nine point penalty has ensured certain relegation.
