The Football Trade Directory 2010 printed edition enjoyed a successful launch at this year’s Sports Merchandise Exhibition in a packed Bobby Moore Suite at Wembley Stadium.
The event proved to be the perfect destination to promote the third edition of the directory with all of the major sports disciplines represented, and visitors from as far afield as Australia, Bermuda and Tokyo.
Commercial Director John Booth was delighted with the event as a whole and in particular with the response to the new directory.
“The show offers us a great opportunity to network with a wide range of companies involved in football, and we were very pleased with the levels of interest shown in the trade directory – both the on-line and printed version.
“Over 100 new companies registered on the directory, which is now easily the largest resource of its type in the industry.”
Times may be tough but with re-bookings at an all-time high and with many old faces now returning as exhibitors to the event, the future of SMEX – The Sports Merchandise Exhibition is assured.
General feeling was that the attendance was of a superior quality with many important contacts being made with clubs of all levels.
The show continues to provide the chance to meet face-to-face and see the very latest merchandise products and services available today.
With visitors including Premier League football clubs such as Arsenal, Birmingham, Bolton, Chelsea, Fulham, Hull, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Sunderland, Tottenham, West Ham, Wigan and Wolverhampton Wanderers the exhibitors were clearly spoilt for choice.
Add to the mix visitors from over 20 different countries and major retailers like ASDA, John Lewis Partnership and Littlewoods in attendance, next year already looks set fair for success.
SMEX is now firmly established as the foremost sports merchandise event for the whole of Europe. Event Director, Jeremy Storey-Walker said ‘We are delighted with the success of the 2010 event. It’s now more crucial than ever for clubs to find new merchandise products that will work for them. SMEX is the only event in their calendars that allows them to see all of the products all in one place.”
The exhibition returns to Wembley on the 14th of March 2011.
