The Premier League has announced that their Football First highlights rights will once again be awarded to Sky.
The announcement is the last in a series of contracts that have been revealed for the 2010-2013 period. With all deals, domestic and overseas, taken into account the Premier League has netted £3.3 billion from media rights; a surprising increase from last round’s £2.7billion revenue given the recent economic climate.
However it is thought that the increase will be played down by Premier League officials so as not to encourage wage inflation at any of the League’s clubs.
Last week it was revealed that Yahoo! outbid current providers Virgin Media, winning the rights to show Premiership highlights online.
