England’s 2018 World Cup bid has been boosted by two big name sponsors.

Premier Inn is the latest company to sign up and become an Official Supporter of the England 2018 World Cup. The national hotel chain will provide accommodation to any fans visiting the UK, if the bid is successful.

John Kerslake, Director of Sales at Premier Inn said: “We are delighted to be an Official Supporter of the 2018 World Cup bid. We have hotels in more locations than any other budget hotel brand and are really looking forward to welcoming as many guests as we can throughout the tournament. As official 2018 bid sponsors, we`ll be doing everything we can to help bring the World Cup to the UK."

England 2018 Chief Executive Andy Anson said: "The support of Premier Inn is extremely important in our bid to host the 2018 World Cup and we`re delighted that they`ve joined the team. With hundreds of thousands of business and leisure customers across the country Premier Inn is sure to play a vital role in marketing the bid and providing accommodation.’

Existing sponsor Morrisions has also added weight to the England bid by collecting over 1.6million signatures of support from customers who ‘Back the Bid’.

The giant petition was delivered to the bid offices at Wembley Stadium by England legend Alan Shearer and actress, model and England fan Kelly Brook.

Bid ambassador Alan Shearer said: "To collect over 1.6 million signatures is a remarkable achievement by Morrisons and demonstrates what the amazing support that they have been able to get from their customers across Britain.

"It is really important for the bid to demonstrate to FIFA that the World Cup is something that people in England really want and this is a great way of doing just that. It's now down to that all important vote in Zurich next week but there's no doubt in my mind that Morrisons and its customers have more than played their part in showing just what a World Cup in England would mean to us all".

Andy Anson, England 2018 bid Chief Executive, said: "We set ourselves a target of securing the support of 2 million people around the world for our bid and with Morrisons having contributed well over 1.6m of those, we reached that target with ease. I think that is clear that our bid is extremely well supported across England and a great deal of this is thanks to Morrisons".

Michael Bates, Morrisons Marketing Director, said: "We knew when we became a partner that we could help the public demonstrate its overwhelming support for the bid. As such, we're delighted to be in a position to deliver such a huge number of signatures in support of England 2018 and our thanks go out to our customers and staff across the country for helping us to achieve so much".
