UEFA and the Grass Roots Football Show are joining forces to celebrate a journey from English grass roots football through to the Champions League final at Wembley.
The 2011 Champions League Final will be held at Wembley on Saturday May 27th with the Grass Roots Football Show taking place just six days later Europe's biggest celebration of junior and parks football will be staged at the three-day at the NEC, Birmingham.
Over 90,000 fans will be at Wembley, while an anticipated 30,000 will be coming to the NEC from Friday June 3rd - Sunday June 5th.
UEFA will be hosting a programme of grass roots football activity in London and throughout Europe and, through their official educational website UEFA Training Ground, will be a major exhibitor at the NEC.
Joanna Burns, director of The Grass Roots Football Show, said: “It is a great coup for us to have UEFA and their Training Ground website on board with us.
"This partnership further cements and confirms our position as Europe's only truly authentic independent football event for the whole grass roots family.
"With the UEFA Champions League final coming to England, this will be a seven day celebration of football including the major professional club final in the world and the leading independent grass roots football show.
"UEFA have their own grass roots programme of footballing activity leading up to the final and we are delighted they will continue with a major presence at our own event."
UEFA will emphasise the close relationship between grassroots and the elite game with the staging of the second UEFA Grassroots Day on Wednesday May 25th 2011.
Approved by the UEFA Executive Committee, the event will be a celebration of grassroots football across all 53 national member associations.
Aligned with the Wembley Stadium final, UEFA Grassroots Day shows that elite football cannot flourish without healthy foundations in the grassroots, leaving one of the key objectives to relay the message that football is open and accessible to all.
UEFA Training Ground is a dedicated UEFA website focusing on teaching the best practices in the modern game to grass roots players.
The Grass Roots Football Show 2011 is the biggest football event of its kind in Europe and takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from the of June 3rd – 5th.
