Ex FA Chief Executive Brian Barwick and lifelong Burnley fan Alastair Campbell who sit on the advisory board on the joint venture between Buckinghamshire New University and the University College of Football Business (UCFB) is based at Turf Moor and have agreed sponsorship deal that see the UCFB brand appearing on advertising boards and the back collar of players’ shirts.
The venture was set up earlier this year and students will be taught in lecture theatres and seminar rooms overlooking the pitch, following a multimillion pound upgrade to Turf Moor. UCFB opens in September and will deliver undergraduate degree courses in the operational and business facets of football.
“The establishment of UCFB is in response to a very clear emerging requirement for increased standards of professionalism, operations and governance within the football world,” explained Philip Wilson, provost and chief executive of the college.
"We have established, for the very first time, an institution which is entirely geared towards this multi-billion pound industry and the surrounding business environment, delivering graduates with the skills to walk straight into positions at clubs, governing bodies and surrounding industries.
