QPR make swift move for Beard

Queens Park Rangers new owner Tony Fernandes has moved swiftly to strengthen his boardroom team by appointing former London 2012 Olympic Marketing and Sponsorship Director, Philip Beard, as chief executive.

Beard arrives at Loftus Road from American music and sports giant AEG, where he was chairman of sports and sponsorship and responsible for developing the company's European sports interests.

Beard worked on the successful London 2012 Olympic bid before moving to become the chief executive of the O2 Arena.

The West London club were bought out by AirAsia owner Tony Fernandes last week and the new owner has already reinstated Amit Bhatia as the vice chairman, promised cheaper ticket prices and suggested that the club should be playing in a bigger stadium than their current Loftus Road home.
