New chairman in board shuffle at Corby Town

Corby Town has appointed David Mallinger, son of the former chairman Peter, as a director and acting chairman following the resignation of Les Manning.

Manning was appointed chairman at the Blue Square Bet North club last month to replace Peter Manning, who passed away in January, but along with Mick Leech has donated his shares to David Mallinger and Graham Sarmer who take a controlling interest in the club.

On his appointment, Mallinger said: "I am pleased to have the opportunity to continue the good work my father started at Corby in 2007 and to ensure a fitting legacy at Rockingham Triangle in his memory.

"I would also like to place on record my thanks, particularly to Les Manning, David Dunham and Mick Leech for the tireless work and contribution they have made to the club, especially since my father’s death.  They have all been offered roles as non-executive directors, which they have accepted, so we will continue to benefit from their expertise.

"We are very positive about the future of this football club otherwise we wouldn't be here."

The club also announced that FootballCV, of which Mallinger is a director, will be launching an academy at Corby, subject to approval from Corby Borough Council later this week.
