Former Histon chairman Gareth Baldwin has expressed an interest in buying Cambridge United Football Club.
Baldwin is currently a commercial consultant for the Blue Square Bet Premier side who were put up for sale last week.
Speaking to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Baldwin said: “"I think there are a number of parties who are interested in the club.
"I would love the opportunity to find enough people to take ownership of Cambridge United and guide the club back into the Football League."
"We have a fantastic product here. The football club has heritage and the city has heritage, and it's a great opportunity for the right person."
Supporters’ group Cambridge Fans United has also been linked with a takeover although Gary Aytes of the group admits it may not be the best route for the club.
"The initial response we've had from people willing to invest and get involved has been very promising," he said.
"If we can find a wealthy investor as opposed to a fans-led initiative then we would want that to happen as in the end it's about funding this club," Aytes added.
