Palace stadium plans could scupper Spurs bid

Championship side Crystal Palace Football Club has been linked with a move to the National Sports Centre from its current Selhurst Park stadium.

More is expected to be revealed regarding any potential new venue on Thursday, but if the NSC is the chosen venue it could present issues for Premier League Tottenham Hotspur who plan to refurbish the NSC for athletics as they would demolish the 2012 Olympic Stadium should they be successful in their bid.

The NSC represents an important part of Spurs’ plans with the club’s plans to demolish the Olympic Stadium as the site is meant to leave an athletics legacy.  Instead Tottenham would turn the NSC into a 25,000 capacity athletics venue.

Spurs’ bid is up against West Ham United for the stadium with the Olympic Park Legacy Company expected to make a decision on January 28th.
