Liverpool have announced that Nike's sports marketing director for the UK and Ireland, Graham Bartlett, is to become their new commercial director.
The move is seen as one of the most senior appointments made by Liverpool since the club changed hands last autumn.
Bartlett will report to the club's managing director Ian Ayre.
A lifelong Liverpool supporter, Bartlett is a qualified solicitor and began his career at Linklaters & Paines in 1993.
He moved to Sports Law Group at Nicholson Graham & Jones in 1997 and two years later was appointed vice president and head of business affairs in the football department at ISL Worldwide.
After two years at ISL Worldwide he moved to a similar role at UEFA before moving to Nike where he spent six years.
Speaking about the challenge of working for the Reds Bartlett said: "I’m very proud to be joining such an incredible club and excited at the challenge ahead," he said.
"My whole family are from the city itself and as a lifelong fan, there is no other club in the world that I would have worked for apart from Liverpool.
"It has a fantastic history and heritage and I’m delighted to be a part of it.
"But I wouldn’t have accepted the position unless I thought I could do a good job and help the club to continue to progress.
"We are all desperate to take Liverpool to the next level and I want to be part of that adventure."
