Chelsea John Terry, "Captain Fantastic"

John Terry has never been far from controversy and the Chelsea and England Captain is paying the price for reported extra marital affair and 'Racism" slurs. Terry is no angel but being in the public eye has its price and has missed up to £6million in commercial deals because of the controversies that have dogged his career.

Nigel Currie, director of Sports Marketing agency Rapport in sport believe the England captaincy is worth up to £1.5m a year in endorsements but the England Captain has often been overlooked.

‘The England football captaincy is one of the highest profile jobs in the country,’ said Currie

Terry is a legend for Chelsea and England on the football field and been described as "Captain fantastic" but John Terry has been overlooked for endorsements

‘The England captain should be a prime target for marketers, but the on-off nature of Terry’s appointment, plus the allegations and revelations surrounding him have undoubtedly made companies nervous about linking him with their brands.

‘Terry has lost opportunities. Players such as David Beckham, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer were very marketable and benefited enormously from being England captain.’
