Developers have drawn up plans to incorporate a new stadium for York City as part of retails plans. The stadium will become the new home for the club and rugby league side York City Knights.
Plans for a new stadium and retail development in York will create more than 1,600 jobs, according to developer Oakgate.
The firm has asked for planning permission for the scheme at Monks Cross which would would include a 6,000 all-seater stadium and retail units including a new Marks and Spencer store.
Richard France, Oakgate managing director, commented “As well as providing a new Community Stadium for York, the proposals will bring a genuine and significant boost to York’s economy.
