Following its popularity in previous years, the Blues will be wearing a black collared shirt, with pink trim, black shorts and black socks as their main away kit. The shirt, as modelled by Wade Elliot, will be available to pre-order from jdsports.co.uk and the Blues Superstore at the ground.
Also unveiled today is the new pink third shirt, offering a new look for the loyal Birmingham fans. This will be available to pre-order from the 1st October.
Diadora, established in 1948, has become one of the most recognisable sporting brands in the world and recently secured a 3 year deal with the Blues. This kit is the first of 3 to be unveiled this season and will be available in JD Sports, exclusive retailers of Diadora in the UK, at launch.
After such a positive response to the new home kit, following it’s unveiling in July, the club and Diadora are excited by the new change strips and have also released a short video of the photo-shoot.
Both the home and away kit are available to pre-order now, with a September launch date to be confirmed. The third kit will be available from the 1st October ahead of its mid-October launch.
Founded by Marco Danieli in 1948, Diadora has become the most important Italian sports brand. For over 60 years Diadora has developed and marketed products for competitive and non-competitive sports and leisure activities. Renowned for technical excellence, classic Italian style and high quality products, Diadora has become a leading sports lifestyle brand bridging the gap between performance-based and trend-led training footwear.
After new branding in 1966, featuring the now familiar ‘Five Balls’ logo, Diadora made its entrance into the sporting world manufacturing ski-boots during the late 1960’s. Diadora became sport focused and style conscious, developing innovative designs across many sporting areas, worn by professional athletes who excelled in their fields. Italian football legend Roberto Bettega signed up with Diadora, wearing their boots in the 1978 FIFA World Cup. Through the years many more top athletes affiliated themselves with Diadora; runner Sebastian Coe won gold at the 1986 European Championships in the 800m while Italian hero Gelindo Bordin added to his 1986 marathon gold by winning gold again at the 1988 Olympics.
Diadora’s sporting presence also extended to team sponsorship, most notably the McLaren Formula 1 team, which included racing legend Ayrton Senna, and the Italian National Football Team (1986-1994), including 1993 FIFA World Player of the Year Roberto Baggio. Diadora footballing heroes of recent years include Christian Vieri, Filippo Inzaghi and Francesco Totti, and current player Antonio Cassano.
Today Diadora is owned by GEOX Holding Company and headed by Enrico Moretti Polegato and is present in over 68 countries. Exclusive in the UK to JD Sports, Diadora is the brand of choice for high profile athletes such as 2011 Tour de France champion Cadel Evans and remains sports focussed, style conscious and always ready to push boundaries through cutting edge design and innovation. With their rich heritage and classic Italian style Diadora knows what it takes to be a winner.
