FA Cup picks up a gear with record prize money

The FA Cup broke new ground this season with the Extra Preliminary rounds played two weeks ago. These featured a first ever live game at that stage between Wembley FC and Langford FC in front of a record crowd.

The FA Cup with Budweiser for Season 2012-13 sees record payments made from The FA's Prize Fund. The prize fund sees Extra Preliminary round winners receive a cash windfall of a £1,000 with the cup winers receiving a massive £1.8 million for winning the Wembley showpiece in May.

The 166 winners of this weeken's Preliminary round proper will each benefit from £1,750 prize money for winning their tie.
