Manchester United boss to get backing of Glazers in transfer swoop

In the Daily Mail today it stated that Sir Alex will retire in two years time but while the team has been strengthened by the signing of Robin Van Persie a deal that moved quickly once the Glazers had sanctioned the fee (£22.5m plus add ons) it is in the centre of midfield that he needs to address.

Luka Modric has his admirers from Chelsea and Real Madrid for the £30 million Croatian star, but although he is desperate to join the Spanish champions, Daniel Levy, Spurs Chairman, will not snub an approach if United outbid their Spanish rivals

Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to be planning his exit strategy from United in two years ‘time after building his last great team around Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

Ferguson begins his 28th season in charge of United at Everton on Monday night and claims the Glazer family will back him again if he makes a formal bid for England left-back Leighton Baines before the end of the transfer window on August 31.

The canny Scott rarely does his business in public and while he will be pleased to see Darren Fletcher back on the field he will need the experience of a top quality central midfielder if he plans to end his great career on a high.
