The only way was Bangor last week as the welsh city and its football club were prominently featured on BBC Wales radio and TV coverage.
Bangor City Chairman Dilwyn Jones was just one of the club personalities interviewed by presenter Louise Elliott during the Radio Wales three-hour morning show. The focus was on the Club’s behind-the scenes staff and volunteers, and the move to the new ground at Nantporth. Amongst the others behind the mike were groundsman Mike Frazer, Commercial Manager Brian Harvey and long-serving tea lady Vera Owen.
A surprise guest was former City player and manager Dave Elliott, Louise’s father, who shared memories of Bangor and its football club with the guests during a phone interview.
Later the same evening, City’s famous stadium at Farrar Road was spotlighted in the TV series ‘Welsh Towns’, presented by former Wales rugby international Eddie Butler. In one of the last pieces of footage shot at the old ground, Eddie remembered some of the Club’s glory days with supporter Ian Gill.
