The Only Way is Essex

Football News 24/7
Places are up for grabs at a new Grassroots Media Conference as the Essex County FA host their first ever meeting and workshop at Essex Record Office in Chelmsford on Thursday 24th May from 7:00 to 9:00pm, with local football volunteers benefitting from free training and networking.

Guest speakers will open the evening before attendees, including FA Charter Standard Club volunteers and Young Leaders, will receive advice on spreading the word about the positive elements of their clubs or leagues and how to get hold of free or cheap resources. The benefits of social media such as Twitter and Facebook will also be covered.

Press Officers and Media Managers are already planning for next season, and it’s at this time of year that the collaboration of ideas begins, as well as examining what’s achievable in accordance with the manpower and resources available. The forthcoming conference will offer hints and tips which might save precious voluntary hours in 2012/13.

Press & Publicity Officer, Chris Evans, is building a network of people with an active involvement, or even a passing interest, in club and league press activities. He sees the conference as an ideal opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and for likeminded individuals to share ideas and best practice on current publicity matters.

“I attended a workshop delivered by this tutor in February and a lot of the content will be of particular relevance to our local press officers and volunteers,” he explained. “We’ve arranged for the same tutor to deliver the nuts and bolts of that four-hour course in less than 90 minutes! Not only will attendees take away some marketing essentials, but they’ll have a note book full of ideas which they’ll want to introduce right away.”

“Having also attended a countywide Welfare Officers Conference organised by my colleague, Helen Hever, I was inspired to arrange something similar for people involved in media and marketing here in Essex. It’s free training which you’d have to pay for anywhere else so I’d recommend booking early as I expect places to be highly sought after for this unique event - our first ever Grassroots Media Conference!”

Seats at this event are severely limited. A form can be downloaded from http://www.essexfa.com,, which should be returned via E-Mail to chris.evans@essexfa.com or in the post to: Chris Evans, Essex County FA, The County Office, Springfield Lyons Approach, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 1TD.
