Liverpool's plan B after fiasco of transfer window and defeat by Arsenal ?

Liverpool fans must wonder looking at the bench against Arsenal in Sunday's early kick off in the Premier League how the club can move out an England striker like Andy Carroll when Luis Suarez struggled all game to match a four man  Arsenal defence with no plan B.

Liverpool failed to score in the 2-0 defeat at Anfield while prone again to defensive errors.

It is not so long ago Damien Comolli lost his job as Director of Football reported to be transfer related and  Managing director Ian Ayre is now under scrutiny as he seeks to explain why top target Clint Dempsey ended up at Tottenham but sent out Carroll on loan to West Ham United.

The Reds boss Brendan Rodgers failed to land any of his transfer targets on deadline day despite moving on Charlie Adam and Jay Spearing in the last 48 hours of the window as long-time target Dempsey joined Spurs on Friday after the Reds failed to match Fulham’s £6million asking price. The club also failed to sign a senior striker to replace Carroll.

A frustrated Rodgers met Ayre at the club’s Melwood training ground on Saturday to seek an explanation why he has been left chasing four trophies with only one senior striker in Suarez.

To add to the fans concerns, Carroll set up a goal for Kevin Nolan in the first minute of his Hammers debut against Fulham.

Rodgers’s only option now appears to pursue free agents like Michael Owen, although Sunderland are also thought to be interested.
