Soccerex in Rio to be opened by Valcke

Soccerex is delighted and privileged to announce that FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke will be opening the Soccerex Global Convention in Rio de Janeiro, 24-28 November.

As Secretary General, Mr Valcke is responsible for organising the FIFA World Cup TM and has played an important role in overseeing Brazil’s preparations. During his latest trip in Brazil he commented that preparations for the tournament were ‘right on track’.

Mr Valcke will be joined in the opening ceremony by CBF President and 2014 LOC Chairman José Maria Marin and the Brazilian Minister of Sport, Aldo Rebelo.

Commenting on his involvement, Jerome Valcke said:

“I am delighted to be involved with Soccerex again at this year’s Global Convention. The event provides an important platform for the industry to get together, discuss best practice and engage with one another.  Brazil is in a special moment with the world’s biggest football event on the horizon and I think it is important that Soccerex are there too.”

Speaking on the announcement, Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie said:

“We are honoured that Jerome will be opening the 17th Soccerex Global Convention. Jerome has been a great supporter of our events and the development of football business worldwide. To have such senior members of FIFA regularly attending our events truly highlights the calibre of Soccerex on the global stage.”

The Soccerex Global Convention is a five day business event consisting of a comprehensive seminar line-up, a number of networking opportunities, a two-day football festival and a packed exhibition which is already close to selling out.

Held in a purpose-built venue within the Forte de Copacabana, with panoramic views of both the famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, the exhibition is a hub for business activity; as one of the main components of the convention it provides a platform for leading suppliers from around the world to showcase the latest industry products and services to delegates.
