Mansfield (The Stags) beat Wrexham to edge out Kidderminster Harriers and clinch the Blue Square Bet Premier title and a return to the Football League after a five-year absence.
The Stags could have gone up last Saturday if they had won at Braintee and Kidderminster had lost but it went to the last game of the season and Matt Green's 40th minute penalty, awarded after Louis Briscoe was tripped by Glen Little, sealed the win.
Play-off contenders Wrexham had David Artell sent off late on after a rash challenge on Colin Daniel, and it means the former Stags player is set to be banned for the Reds' play-off campaign, which will see them take on Harriers over two legs.
His dismissal came in a nervy final 10 minutes for Mansfield, who were keeping on eye on proceedings at Aggborough.
Town boss Paul Cox said his side needed to calm down mentally if they were to win automatic promotion and despite Kidderminster hammering relegated Stockport 4-0 in a game delayed by a mid-game pitch invasion it could not alter the party at Field Mill.
