According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea have upped their bid for Wayne Rooney from about £20 million to £30 million. But, it is understood Manchester United manager David Moyes has rejected the new improved offer. The England striker was unhappy with his role at United last season, where he was replaced as the main striker by Robin Van Persie.
Moyes has already indicated Van Persie will remain the number one central striker, whilst Mourhino may be able to guarantee Rooney a more pivatol role.
The bid is £10 million below the reported £40 million Chelsea would offer as reported in the Mail on Sunday.
Moyes has been categorical in saing he wants Rooney to stay, but with United themselves trying to entice Barcelona in parting with Cesc Fabregas this might not be the final move in the Rooney saga.
With so many big money deals in the offing there has to be a good chance over half a billion pounds will change hands before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. The three deals we have mentioned above could come to over £200 million - if they happen.
