Carlisle United look to extend Stobart deal

United are bucking the trend when it comes to shirt sponsorship. Their 19-year partnership with the Stobart Group is already the longest-running shirt sponsorship deal in the Football League. And, in an age when clubs have struggled to find new shirt sponsorsthe potential to extend the current deal for longer is well out of the ordinary.

The club's commercial director Dick Young said he hopes the Stobart link will continue to a landmark figure next year.

“Stobart have been tremendously loyal supporters for 19 years, and have become the longest-running private sponsorship in the Football League,” he said.

“Hopefully they will be with us for many more years to come. It would be nice to have Stobart with the number 20 on our shirt next year.”

The Stobart news co-incided with the launch of the club's new replica shirtswhich also feature an additional sponsor in Carlisle-based online results service scores.co.uk, whose logo is below the collar.

“We have a fantastic relationship with Andy Bell and Scores.co.uk and we are delighted that they will be with us this season,” said Young.

“It is extremely important for us to build and foster partnerships like this as it is key to the way we want to drive the club forward.”
