It will be the mother of all parties crammed with special guests from the world of sport, music and entertainment, the Blues are set to kick the 2013/14 season off in style.
A brand new approach to the awards evening and the Club’s first ever pre-season Launch Party – City Live will be jam packed with the best football, music and comedy names the UK has to offer, all in front of a live audience.
The blue carpet will be well and truly rolled out on 8 August, when City Live takes centre stage at the iconic Manchester Central, in the heart of the city.
The star-studded bash when City’s annual end-of-season awards are dished out is always a highlight of the Club’s calendar. Gongs to be presented include Player of the Year and Moment of the Season - to name but a few.
It will also be the first chance for fans to get up close and personal with their heroes, too, when new Club signings such as Jesus Navas and Fernandinho, along with Manager Manuel Pellegrini will be presented to the City faithful.
Inspired by shows such as the MTV Music Awards, City Live will showcase what’s in store for the 2013/14 season, both on and off the pitch, whilst connecting local and global fans like never before.
The headline music acts will be revealed later this week.
City has also enlisted the support of lifelong Blue and funny man, Jason Manford. The comedian who hails from Manchester is a regular on match-days, having grown up on the kippax as a boyhood City fan. Having already sold out two upcoming shows at the Manchester Arena, Manford will be making his home town return in front of the Etihad’s finest.
Commenting on the event, Manchester City Captain, Vincent Kompany, said:
“Manchester City and music have always gone hand-in-hand. It’s in the DNA of our fans and the very fabric of the football club. You only need to look around the Etihad Stadium on a match-day to regularly see musicians such as Noel & Liam Gallagher, Johnny Marr, Mike Pickering, Jimi Goodwin and Damon Gough to name but a few.
“City Live is an opportunity for all our fans to come together to not only recognise the players contributions, celebrate their passion for football and music, but also find out first-hand what’s in store for what will hopefully be an unforgettable season to come.”
