Stoke City offer free away travel and get thumbs up from fans

Stoke City FC have today announced that they will be offering free coach travel to all of their Premier League away matches in the 2013/14 season. And the move has been applauded not just on Stoke's fans forums but those of other clubs as well.

Under the ne scheme, coaches will depart from the Potter’s home at the Britannia Stadium and take their fans to all 19 of the away fixtures which kick off with Liverpool on the first day of the season, 17th August.

It is a fantastic move by the Potters which will hopefully inspire increased support at their away fixtures.  The club enjoys brilliant levels of support at their home ground, which over the years has become a daunting visit for many teams due to the atmosphere created by the roaring Potters fans.

Travel costs are a massive factor when fans are considering following their teams around the country for Premier League fixtures, now, Stoke City’s loyal followers can enjoy stress free travel thanks to the club.

Chief executive Tony Scholes said: "As a club we are conscious that following football can be an expensive business, especially at a time when so many people are feeling the squeeze financially.

"We work hard to try and provide our supporters with value for money which is why we have not increased our ticket prices since being promoted to the Premier League in 2008.

"However, we realise how expensive following the club away from home can be for supporters and we're delighted to be able to offer free coach travel and hope it encourages more of them to give us their fantastic backing away from home."

This is sure to be a welcome announcement and means that more and more Stoke fans can experience the thrills of live Premier League football.

It will be interesting to see if other clubs follow Stoke's example.
