Gateshead's 1st round FA Cup replay at home to Oxford United on Wednesday November 20th has been selected as a live television game.
The BT Sport cameras will roll in to town to cover the big clash against League Two outfit Oxford, the first game ending 2-2 at the Kassam Stadium.
It offers the club the opportunity of a cash windfall, with the club not only receiving a generous braodcasting fee, but the chance for FA prize money of aroud £18k if the manage wto pull off an upset. The whole package could result in a £50k plus windfall.
"It's great news that the FA Cup replay against Oxford United will be televised and it will put the club on the national stage," said delighted chairman Graham Wood.
"It will allow us to showcase our talents to a large television audience and to show what a good footballing side Gateshead are.
"Financially it is a welcome boost and it will make the draw at Oxford worthwhile if we win the replay and earn a trip to Wrexham in the second round."
It will comfortably be the largest TV audience ever to watch a Gateshead game and Wood believes it is another positive step forward for his beloved home town club.
"Having the TV cameras will give an already important game extra zip. It puts the club in the spotlight and further increases the feel-good factor at the club."It will be Gateshead's first appearance on BT Sport who are the official broadcast partner of The Skrill Premier.
Admission for the Oxford replay is at the turnstiles on the night and normal prices apply although, as it is an FA Cup tie, there will be no discount for Newcastle United Season Ticket holders.
The £5 discount for NUFC Season Ticket holders applies to all Conference games and will be back in place for the game against Salisbury City this Saturday which is an international break weekend.
