Rangers midfielder Ian Black faces a ban of up to ten matches after admitting to a breach of Scottish FA regulations on football betting.
Black, 28, will immediately serve a three match ban, with a seven match ban being suspended until the end of the season, which will only be enforced should he breach the SFA's gambling regulations again.
The SFA does not allow betting on any matches by footballers, and Black was accused of gambling on 160 matches over a seven-year period, including betting against his own team on three occasions. the charges cover Black's career at Inverness CT, Hearts and current club Rangers.
Whilst several players in England have received charges related to gambling in the past months, Black is the first player in Scotland to be punished for breaking gambling regulations.
