Soccerex has confirmed South African minister of sport Fikile Mbalula as a speaker at the opening ceremony of its 2013 African Forum.
The event is due to take place next month at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Mbalula will be just one of many sports ministers from the continent, with ministers from Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia and Tanzania along with over 1,000 other senior decision makers from across Africa.
Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie said: “It is fantastic that Mr. Mbalula will be participating in the opening ceremony at the Soccerex African Forum. As the South African minister of sport, he is at the heart of South Africa’s sporting development and his insight into South Africa’s plans will be essential listening for all delegates.”
Mbalula was equally enthused: “Sport is an important part of our culture here in South Africa and football is the people’s game; grassroots development, facility management and commerciality are key focus points in South Africa currently and Soccerex is providing us with a platform to address these issues.”
Soccerex has visited 21 countries across Africa, Asia and South America since 2007.
