Dublin based BetBright.com launched their grass roots fund raising scheme with the Evo Stik League just over a month ago and it’s already proving a big hit.

With nearly half the leagues’ club’s already taking part the money clubs can raise is beginning to benefit cash strapped teams, especially those that have been hit hardest by the recent deluge.

Take Derbyshire based Mickleover Sports, current sitting sixth, just outside the play-off places in Evo Stik NPL Division One South who have saw the opportunity the scheme offers.

Club Chairman Tony Shaw explains more:
‘At our recent committee meeting we were discussing our cash-flow after having games postponed and the real prospect that the bad weather would continue. Like many clubs at our level the bad weather had hit us hard and we needed a boost to our finances.

‘I introduced this new offer from new League Sponsors Bet Bright to our committee and we at first thought there must be a catch. £40 per new member for the club seemed too good to be true. No catch as the joiners had to spend £25 but then received a free £20 bet. We set a target of 50 members which would earn us £2000!!

‘We decided to start this with members of our committee which has produced 12 members earning us £480. We are going to offer this next to players as they all seem to have a bet on Football independently.

‘After this we will be approaching supporters by leaflet drop at the Gate.
‘We have stressed so far that we understand if people don’t want to join or don’t gamble but it would help the club recover important lost gate revenue.

The Club are set to receive a £500 cheque at a meeting of Evo Stik Clubs as they continue to add members and raise money. Much needed funds given that they have lost as many as six fixtures compared to other sides in the league.

Mark Singleton Bet Bright’s Business Development Director added:
The good news for grass roots football is that the scheme is being rolled out to any league or club that wants to take part. To receive details simply contact me.’ mark.singleton@dedsert.com
