Premier League Stoke City can celebrate vital win over West Ham with new beer deal

Stoke fans will be drinking Carlsberg beers for another three years and have probably sunk a few on Saturday after the Potters came from behind to beat West Ham at the Britannia Stadium, 3-1.

The club has shaken hands on a two-year extension to its existing contract with the beer giant to maintain their partnership until 2017.

Carlsberg has been associated with Stoke since 2007, since when Premier League football has helped the club report an 88 per cent rise in commercial income.

The club's commercial director Andy Billingham said: “We are extremely pleased that Carlsberg UK has chosen to continue to invest in Stoke City and extend our long and successful relationship.

“With any partner, we work from day one as though it’s our last to ensure that both parties receive excellent value."

And he says that approach explains why so many companies are renewing their ties with the club.

"We believe this is proven by the 90% partnership renewal rate the club has achieved since securing promotion to the Premier League in 2008.”

The win over West Ham sees Stoke leap-frog the Londoners into 10th place.
