Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge snapped up by Beats headphones and Subway

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has signed up with two major brands in the wake of his excellent season, and with the upcoming World Cup in mind.

Sturridge has signed deals with premium headphone maker Beats by Dre and global food chain Subway.

He  is understood to have signed the striker to appear alongside World Cup poster boy Neymar in a global TV campaign for the Headphone company.

Subway is hoping the player can bring credibility to its active lifestyle positioning, and he will appear in ads for its Low Fat Sub range in the coming days alongside football legend Pele.

The footballer, in partnership with sports marketing consultancy Octagon, has predicated his reputation for “hard work”, which has helped him shirk the criticisms that dogged his early career and become one the Premier League’s most potent goalscorers, making him a compelling proposition for sponsors. Sturridge already has deals with BT Sport, Coca-Cola and Mars.

A good tournament in Brazil could see Sturridge's global appeal rise sharply, and with the Premier League the most watched football league in the world, his stock will continue to be on the up.

The benchmark for a British footballer marketing himself globally is still former England captain David Beckham, whose past deals with brands like Armani and Adidas have made him the richest footballer on the planet.
