Porn row hits amateur football team

The Rutherford Raiders, the University of Kent's inter-college league team, have been threatened with a ban from playing after they decided to use the kit with an X-rate porn site logo "PornHub" on it.

The Rutherford Raiders desperately needed financial backing and jokingly applied to PornHub to place a logo on their football kits. After they published a photo of their new outfit on Facebook, the porn site connected Raiders offering them a real sponsorship, reports Kent Online.

However, the move has caused a furious row and the University authorities "didn't see the funny side," and have threatened to ban the team from the inter-college league for using an inappropriate logo.

"We take this issue very seriously and inter-college sports teams, which are the responsibility of Kent Sport, must present any potential sponsorship and/or logos for approval," said Martin Herrema, a spokesperson of the University of Kent said.

One of the Rutherford Raiders insists that there is "no reasoning behind the sanction," since the University's cricket team uses the logo of Kingfisher, an alcoholic brand.

"We are struggling to see why they are having a problem. The university cricket team are sponsored by Kingfisher, which is also an age-restricted product,"

"In my opinion the decision is made by people in Kent Sport that are out of touch with what’s socially acceptable," he stressed, slamming the University officials for double-standard approach.

The row rumbles on with social media channels fueling the fire.
