Premier League side Liverpool FC has signed a partnership with Video game developer Konami, the team behind the popular Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) series of games.

The agreement sees Konami become an official global partner of club.

According to the company's senior director of brand and business development, Jonas Lygard, the deal gives Konami "unrivalled access" to Liverpool's players and facilities, including their famous Anfield stadium.

Konami will work with Liverpool "to ensure their players are brought to life in our products, and will also work together in future promotional partnerships as well," said Lygard.

As well as accurate representations of Liverpool players, kits and facilities, Liverpool's team anthem, ‘You'll Never Walk Alone’, will also feature in the upcoming PES 17 game.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Konami, whose attention to detail will make sure that Liverpool FC is well represented and will help us to continue to engage with our fans in new and exciting ways." said the chief commercial officer at Liverpool, Billy Hogan.

The news comes after Liverpool's Merseyside rivals Everton signed a deal with Sports Interactive, the makers of the Football Manager series of video games.
