Manchester United vs Southampton to kick off Sky's new Friday Night Football

As featured on NewsNow: Football news eNewsletter

Friday night football begins tonight as Manchester United host Southampton in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

The clash raises the curtain for what will be more of a permanent slot in the ever-expanding calendar of Premier League fixtures across the 2016-17 campaign and beyond. Tonight's fixtures is the first of 10 games that Sky Sports are scheduled to show on Friday nights this season.

The Friday Night Football show begins at 6:30pm on Sky and will be hosted by Jeff Stelling and Rachel Riley, who have previously worked together on Countdown.

This week, there will be an interview with Paul Pogba by Thierry Henry, ahead of the Frenchman's first appearance for United since joining from Juventus.

Although this isn't the first ever Friday night Premier League match outside the holiday season, which was also a Manchester United game away Aston Villa last season, it is the first time that a tv company has had rights for regular Friday night games.
