The Premier League has agreed a broadcast deal with Chinese over-the-top (OTT) streaming service PPTV. The deal is believed to be the biggest overseas broadcast deal in the history of the Premier League.
The deal is scheduled to last three-year deal and could be worth up to £560 million, which would make it the most expensive overseas broadcast deal ever signed by the Premier League.
The Premier League have yet to comment on the deal but, if it is confirmed, then the deal would represent an enormous increase on the current Chinese TV deal, with Super Sports Media Group which was estimated be worth around £134 million over six years.
The new agreement will start when the Super Sports deal end, which means it will begin at the start of the 2019/20 season.
The overseas deal however comes nowhere close to the current domestic deal with BT Sport and Sky Sport which is worth £5.14 billion.
The deal is signals another bit of investment from China in English game after Aston Villa, Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers were bought by Chinese investors in during the year.
