Southampton to report Liverpol for illegal approach

eNewsletter

Southampton will report Liverpool to the Premier League over what they believe to be an illegal approach for centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

Reports suggest that Van Dijk wants to move to Liverpool this transfer window after recently signing a six year contract last summer.

Liverpool are yet to formally approach Southampton to ask for permission to speak to Van Dijk but it is reported that Liverpool have been in contact with the players agent to discuss a move.

Liverpool refused to comment on speculation about the move, while Southampton insist they do not need to sell the defender. Southampton are angry by what they see as an attempt to unsettle Van Dijk at the club.
