100s attend England Football day
The Essex County FA organise the annual event purely for Charter Standard Clubs only as one of the benefits of the award. The day at Great Baddow High School comprised of mini matches, coaching sessions with the FA Skills Team and Essex County FA Community Coaches, a coach education session and an inflatable fun zone.
On arrival, all the players were presented with T-Shirts to wear and keep. Then, after a brief introduction, the teams are split into groups of the same age but comprising players from different teams. There were three different areas set-up on the site - fun, skills and games. In the fun area, players took part in various activities including speed shot, shooting accuracy, games inside inflatable pitches and timed drills.
In the skills section there were eight different areas, with a coach in each teaching and helping the players with numerous areas of the game. There were also pitches marked out with matches all managed by volunteers. When the session finished, everyone gathered for a presentation where each player received an Essex County FA drinks bottle and a mini football.
Natasha Roberts from Stanway Villa Under 10s commented: “We were lucky enough to be the first ever age group to represent our club at this year’s England Football Day. Everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I would highly recommend it to everyone next year. It was a fantastic day from start to finish, impeccably run and with a constant flow of cooled water bottles given out. We felt privileged to attend.”
