Airdri­eonians sell out of fan sponsored shirt

Airdri­eonians have sold out of the a replica shirt which was sponsored by the club's supporters' trust. By sponsoring the shirt, the trust became the first fan group to be a main kit sponsor in the world.

The shirts had a image of Mark Allison, a fan of the club who died of pancreatic cancer in June, printed on the shirt.

Only 100 limited edition shirts were printed but they sold out within 35 minutes on Saturday morning.

Airdri­eonians Commercial Manager, Douglas Allsop said "there were lots of disappointed people but they understood the situation."

Before he died, aged 49, Alilson raised nearly £80,000 for different cancer charities.

"He was well known throughout Airdrie but also outside the town," added Allsop, who is also a member of the supporters' trust. Once he was diagnosed, rather than lie down, he wanted to take on projects and I think that was to keep him upbeat and occupied.
