Are Manchester City about to break transfer record?
The Argentine superstar is believed to be a top target for the ambitious Premier League club, and as such Ladbrokes report that odds on a record-breaking transfer happening this year have fallen from 33/1 to 5/1 within hours on New Year’s Day.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: ‘Rumours of City tabling a colossal bid for Messi at some point this year have sent the odds of the transfer record being broken into freefall.’
The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are also potential big movers amid speculation linking both players with Manchester United, and the Real Madrid men’s odds on moving to the Premier League have also fallen.
Bale is now 5/2 to move to England, having been 5/1, while Ronaldo’s odds have also been cut from 6/1 to 7/2.
