As Football League season kicked-off so did the Emirates FA Cup

The Emirates FA Cup returned on Friday night and according to the FA's official website, Sholing’s Kieran Winman marked the occasion in style as he scored from the halfway line in his side’s 4-1 victory over Bournemouth FC.

The 2016-17 competition begins with 183 extra preliminary round ties and five of those took place on Friday with the rest on Saturday and Sunday. Ascot United had to play on Friday to avoid a clash with Saturday's big race meeting and were glad they did winning 2-0
