As new football season looms Manchester United keen to sign Pogba before Community Shield match with Leicester City
The EFL season kicks-off over the weekend 5/6/7 August and on the Sunday the once traditional curtain raiser - the Community Shield also takes place at Wembley.
That game sees Manchester United meet Leicester City and United United manager Jose Mourinho is eager to push through the club’s transfer of Paul Pogba in the next 48 hours so he can hand him his debut in that game according to Metro Sport.
The Red Devils meet the Premier League champions at Wembley next Sunday, and could use the opportunity to welcome the France international back to English football.
Pogba left United for Juventus in 2012, but is now closing in on a return for a potential world-record fee of around £100million.
Mourinho will want to have his glamorous new signing ready for the Premier League season, and a warm-up in the Community Shield would apparently be the ideal preparation, according to The Sun.
United have already had a busy summer, bringing in big names in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly to strengthen after last season’s disappointing fifth-place finish.
Pogba would undoubtedly be the most exciting purchase of the lot, however, and Mourinho is understandably keen to have him on board as soon as possible, with much of the deal done and a medical scheduled in LA to wrap things up.
