In what by many will seem a strange move just ahead of a game Blackburn Rovers made an official statement on their website prior to the home game with Burton Albion.

The statement said:

'The Board of Directors appreciate and understand the current concerns and frustrations of the supporters following a disappointing start to the season.

'However, we now have three home games in the space of a week and the remainder of the transfer window in order to address both the playing squad and, most importantly, results on the pitch.

'We have already committed to holding bi-annual meetings with a supporters consultation group – with the first meeting set to take place in the coming weeks – where fans will have an opportunity to speak directly with the Board and manager Owen Coyle.

'Whilst we will endeavour to engage with all supporters, we cannot commit to responding to every individual issue raised with the club, as our focus has to be on the team, its results, the upcoming games and the remaining time available to us in the current transfer window.'

It can only add to specualtion in East Lancashire about manager Owen Coyle's future and a 2-2 draw with newly promoted Burton still leaves Rovers at the foot of the Championship table with one point from a possible 12.
