Boots to sponsor women's home nation teams

High street chemist brand Boots will sponsor all womens home nations teams and Republic of Ireland team in a deal worth at least £1m over the course of the 3 year deal. 

This is the first occurence of such a deal between the five nations.  

The sponsorship will be portioned in various ways to each nation.

Only last month Barclays became the Women's Super League's inaugural titled sponsor, also a 3 year deal worth over £10m.

The Boots sponsorship will run through this summers World Cup and the 2021 European Championship held in England.

The World Cup kicks off June 7th, England women 3rd ranked team in the World Cup will face home nation rivals Scotland ranked 20th during the group stage of the competition.

Wales are 33rd in the world, with Northern Ireland 59th and the Republic 31st.

Mark Bullingham, chief commercial and development officer at the Football Association, said England were "delighted" to partner with Boots.

"It's important we partner with brands that share our passion for raising the profile of the sport and the ability to help us do so," said Bullingham, who takes over as chief executive at the end of the 2018/19 season.

"I look forward to seeing us work together to make the Lionesses household names and inspiring the next generation of girls to take up the game."
